About
Fari McCaul is an Australian artist creating instinctive works that explore where memory meets the body. Through colour, gesture, and material, her practice opens spaces for reflection, sensation, and feeling.
Raised on a self-sufficient farm in the Sunshine Coast hinterlands, creativity was woven into daily life. Nature, handcrafted leatherwork, and the rhythms of making shaped her early understanding that art can be both sustenance and expression. Her Thai and Scottish–Irish heritage grounds her exploration of identity and belonging.
A pivotal shift occurred when she temporarily lost her voice due to psychogenic dysphonia, an experience that pulled her away from the corporate tech world and back into painting. Reclaiming her voice deepened her commitment to presence and emotional honesty, shaping the vitality that now defines her practice.
Working primarily in paint, Fari follows intuition over perfection. Some pieces arrive quickly; others need coaxing before they find their shape. Each work carries its own energy, reflecting the complexity of being human. Her paintings echo the emotional truth of remembering.
Her work is held in private collections across Australia and internationally. In late 2025, she will continue her research into memory and embodied expression during her Ipswich Artist Residency.
